This summer, Frankfurt’s High Rise Cinema open-air movie event made a stop on the OpernTurm roof terrace. After last year’s success the event returned to the top of the tower’s podium: All three films sold out on three July evenings, and had audiences captivated.
Movie magic in the open air
Midway through the Frankfurt summer, the OpernTurm roof terrace was transformed into an open-air cinema with the most magnificent of backdrops – the Frankfurt skyline. In this setting, a total of 600 cinemagoers enjoyed an entirely new experience of the selected films: the Hitchcock classic “Rear Window”, Wim Wenders’ cinematic meditation on true happiness “Perfect Days”, and the preview (before its official cinema release) of “Riviera Revenge”, a French summer comedy about life’s golden years.
Coveted tickets
Tickets for the High-Rise Cinema events on the rooftops of the city are extremely cherished, as places are strictly limited due to safety regulations. As a result, all the tickets were sold out in next to no time. What’s more, according to the organizer, this year’s High-Rise Cinema went viral and thus reached well over a million people. The event, which this year guested not only at OpernTurm but also at TaunusTurm, Skyline Plaza, and on the roof of the Municipal Parks Department, therefore appears to have been even more popular – so stay tuned for next year’s sequel.
