Diverse commitments
Sustainability
at the OpernTurm
Good for people and the climate: We are committed to conscientious use of resources, protecting the environment and nature, and measures to emphatically reduce our carbon footprint.
Social
commitment
Giving something back to people: The OpernTurm supports a variety of non-profit initiatives. Events and activities on behalf of our tenants also characterize the inspiring corporate culture at the OpernTurm.
Ecological power and heat supply
The OpernTurm selects only providers who supply power from 100-percent renewable energies. We also use district heating – produced in a way that is environmentally friendly and regenerative, namely by means of heat recovery.
E-charging stations
Ever since 2014, OpernTurm has offered e-car charging stations in the underground carpark. In total, there are 20 normal charging stations and four fast-chargers available. Further charging points are planned in the long term.
Sustainable products in-house
With the Manufaktum department store in the podium building, since 2010 the OpernTurm has been offering employees and visitors a large range of high-quality and particularly long-lasting everyday products manufactured in a way that is environmentally and socially compatible.
Resource-saving materials and recycling
We use only environmentally friendly cleaning agents (“Green clean”) and electrically operated cleaning equipment. Waste is 100-percent separated throughout the building. And our canteen operator uses a returnable deposit system or packaging made of recyclable materials for takeaway meals.
LED lighting
In the communal areas the lighting has been converted to energy-saving LED technology.
More green spaces, more climate protection
With the construction of the OpernTurm, a previously sealed 5,400 m² area of the former Zurich insurance complex site was converted back into parkland and integrated into the Rothschild Park. This counteracts the creation of heat islands in the city, supports the infiltration of valuable rainwater, improves the urban climate thanks to the extra vegetation, and provides more recreational space for people in downtown Frankfurt.
Beehive
A bee colony has been established on the podium building. This strengthens the local bee population and thus helps preserve biodiversity.
LEED Gold
Pioneers since 2011: The OpernTurm was one of the first new-build high-rises to be certified to the LEED GOLD standard.
WiredScore Platinum
OpernTurm has won the ultimate certification for its outstanding connectivity. With its excellent fibre-optic and DSL connections, prime mobile phone reception, guaranteed technical fail safety, and transparent documentation, OpernTurm ensures optimal conditions for digital and hybrid work.
Secure cycle parking
OpernTurm provides cyclists with sufficient bike stands. The cycle garage that forms part of the OpernTurm Parkhaus has 75 bike stands as well as 24/7 shower and changing facilities for all staff members of tenant companies. Moreover, there are 48 cycle stands on the premises and a further 80 in the public realm.
Charity
With our Association of Friends of OpernTurm, founded in 2010, we sponsor art, culture, and social projects to the benefit of the wider community. Children and young people are particularly close to our hearts here.
Go to Association of Friends of OpernTurmTenant events
Be it a barbecue after the JP Morgan Chase run, a sundowner on the roof terrace, the Christmas market, or a regular tai chi course: Every year we organize events for the OpernTurm tenants and thus strengthen our community.
Go to NewsInitiatives
We support campaigns to raise awareness of socially relevant issues. For example, we participate in the Earth Hour, and we regularly illuminate the OpernTurm in orange as part of the initiative by the organization Zonta International.
Fountain illumination
Since 2008 the OpernTurm has teamed up with its primary tenants to sponsor the Christmas illumination of the prominent Lucae Fountain on Opernplatz – a light spectacle that delights the whole of Frankfurt year after year.
#opernplatzlightsKita Kids OpernTurm
We help parents balance work and family life: Since opening in 2010, the OpernTurm has operated its own nursery, where children aged from eight weeks to three years are lovingly cared for.
