For some years now the Christmas market in front of the lobby has been part and parcel of the great OpernTurm traditions. This year, the tower’s community was once again able to enjoy two marvellous evenings in a Christmasy atmosphere, complete with culinary delights.
Glorious decorations
The pre-Christmas season in and around OpernTurm are amongst the most atmospheric highlights of the year. Both the festive Christmas tree in the lobby and the great view throughout the season of the dazzling lights on the Lucae Fountain on Opernplatz afford staff and visitors alike many a joyful moment.
Cosy times at the OpernTurm Christmas market
On 13 and 14 December, the traditional Christmas market was held on the OpernTurm forecourt, which boasted little wooden huts and the resplendent decorations on the Christmas trees. This year, Rheingau-based vintners Allendorf again served their choice mulled wine and alcohol-free punch. The beekeepers from Imkerei Saffian honey-makers not only had the highly cherished Original OpernTurm Honey from the summer blossom harvest on offer, but also sold candles handmade from beeswax. And the row of huts also featured Tilly’s Tante retro-truck, where homemade stews awaited guests. Anyone in need of a little movement after the snacks and mulled wine was able to try their hand at curling with the support of the team at the special ice track.
