It’s here again, that most wonderful time of the year. Once more, OpernTurm is ensuring its community enjoys a magical end to the year – with a two-day Christmas market on the forecourt and what might just be the most beautiful Christmas tree in town. What’s more, the OpernTurm Christmas Wish Tree campaign has made many children’s eyes light up for the festive season.
Ready in just two days: The magnificent Nordmann fir from a local forest in the Vogelsberg was put in place and decked out in unique festive style. Decorated with around 200 baubles, hundreds of silk flowers, and more than 10,000 LED lights, the nine-metre-high fir is truly a work of art – or at the very least a floral-festive dream. It was created by Frankfurt’s Blütesiegel florist’s team on behalf of OpernTurm, bringing delight to employees and guests alike and also drawing attention to the Christmas Wish Tree campaign that seeks to grant children’s wishes. This year, OpernTurm again took part in the campaign on the initiative of the Friends of OpernTurm, with staff helping fulfil the wishes of children growing up in particularly challenging circumstances. The gifts given this year went to children at the NordWestZentrum and Griesheim Arche centres in Frankfurt.
Coming together at Christmas
To celebrate the end of the year in style, OpernTurm invited its community to enjoy a small-but-perfectly-formed Christmas market on the forecourt in mid-December. Over mulled wine and punch from the Allendorf vineyard in the Rhinegau as well as honey specialties from Imkerei Saffian, Goose Gourmet spoiled the 600-odd staff who flocked to the market with imaginative Belgian waffle creations. A real highlight: waffles with Bourbon vanilla cream, poached pear, and speculoos crunch. To get visitors warmed up – and as a little sporting challenge – the curling rink in front of the festively decorated wooden huts and Christmas trees had many teams excitedly cheering each other on.
